"As a former competitive rower, how do you row away from everyday stress?"

3 questions for Stefan Kötitz

Your company Linatec builds prefabricated structures.
For what exactly?

We manufacture welding and assembly fixtures for the automotive industry and deliver them to customers worldwide. One of our specialities is the so-called ‘marriage pallet’, i.e. the vehicle carrier used in the assembly line to assemble the body with the drive components – to put it another way, to ‘marry’ them.

Automotive supplier Linatec consistently relies on state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies such as robotics. The company appreciates its excellent location in Königs Wusterhausen, directly on the motorway and close to the new airport – ideal for fast connections, including to Lithuania, where one of Linatec’s partner companies manufactures its products.

Since 2007, you have been a driving force for progress here.
Where is the region heading?

The region has developed rapidly in recent years. Thanks to the airport, various new industrial developments and its proximity to two technical university locations – Adlershof and Wildau – more innovative companies will settle here. The service sector will also benefit greatly from this and grow. And if better-paid jobs come to the region, the infrastructure that makes a region liveable will also continue to improve. Shopping opportunities will increase and more and more restaurants will open that go beyond discounters and kebab shops.

In short, I expect the region to experience a similar leap in prosperity to that seen in the affluent suburbs surrounding the major cities of western Germany.

You used to be a high-performance rower.
How can you best row away from the stress of everyday life?

Of course, sport plays a big role in helping me de-stress. Since rowing is a typical outdoor sport, I actually enjoy everything you can do outside. If it involves water, so much the better. For me, that includes almost any form of endurance sport, fishing and hiking.

But simply pausing for a moment and thinking in peace is also a very important part of my regeneration and a source of inspiration. I find the best conditions for this in the region. Not far from Berlin, there are still very unspoilt, peaceful and beautiful areas of countryside.

As a former high-performance rower and still an active rower, Stefan Kötitz considers it important to promote competitive and recreational sport in the region.

He is therefore involved as a sponsor of the Königs Wusterhausen Water Sports Club.
