The airport company has successfully completed the selection process for its new cohort of trainees. At the end of February, the final apprenticeship or study place for the training intake starting on 1 September 2026 was filled. The high attractiveness of the airport as a training employer is reflected in both the quantity and the quality of applications. More than 1,000 applications were received for over 30 training places, many of which were highly convincing in terms of content, allowing the selection process to be concluded successfully at an early stage. For 2026, the airport company offered training positions in a total of 16 apprenticeship professions as well as dual study programmes in the fields of engineering, IT, airport operations and administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased that once again this year we were able to fill all training places within the airport company at a very early stage. This is also evidence of the attractiveness of jobs at the airport and of our investments in the quality of training. Quality with a system \u2013 high-level training<\/strong><\/p>\n

The airport continuously invests in the quality of its training programmes. Currently, around 120 apprentices and dual-study students from various cohorts are training with the company.<\/p>\n

From the very start of their training, all new apprentices and dual-study students take part in a one-week onboarding programme designed to ease the transition from school to professional life. In addition to a general introduction to the company, it includes opportunities to exchange ideas with other trainees, an airport tour, a first-aid course and training on safety awareness. In this way, new colleagues are integrated both professionally and culturally from the outset. Targeted specialist training is also offered to commercial and technical apprentices in order to further strengthen, for example, digital skills. Technical trainees additionally benefit from an e-learning platform that supports their specialist training and enables individualised learning.<\/p>\n

The staff responsible for supervising apprentices and dual-study students are also considered an important quality factor for the airport company. To ensure quality and continuous development, an internal trainer qualification programme (AEVO) has been established alongside a series of in-house training courses. In total, around 80 trainers and training supervisors receive this qualification offer to ensure consistently high training standards and to further develop them continuously.<\/p>\n

In this way, we not only attract committed young talent but also systematically develop the skilled professionals and future leaders required for tomorrow\u2019s airport operations. The fact that we were able to fill all training places so early makes us proud, as it shows that we are perceived publicly as an attractive training employer,\u201d says Juliane Reffert, Head of Human Resources & Organisation at the airport.<\/p>\n

Responsibility in the region<\/strong><\/p>\n

The airport sees itself as a gateway to the world \u2013 and as a place where diversity, respect and responsibility are actively lived. For example, during their first year of training, all apprentices and dual-study students visit the House of the Wannsee Conference together. Social engagement is also an integral part of the training programme. Through charitable initiatives, apprentices and dual-study students voluntarily support social projects in the region.<\/p>\n

Recruitment of skilled staff deliberately focuses on the Berlin-Brandenburg region. The area surrounding the airport forms a particularly important target group. School partnerships create close links between schools and vocational training, with the aim of highlighting career opportunities at an early stage and supporting pupils through practical experiences.<\/p>\n

Secure prospects: BERzubi on 10 October 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

With training programmes oriented towards the future operational needs of the airport, the company offers secure prospects of employment after completion of training, provided personal and professional suitability is demonstrated.<\/p>\n

There is no standing still: training programmes are continuously developed further. One example is the airport fire brigade training programme, which was brought to Brandenburg on the initiative of the airport and successfully established in 2022. In doing so, the company is setting new standards in the development of skilled workers in the region.<\/p>\n

A special highlight in the training calendar is the in-house training event BERzubi<\/strong>, which will take place on 10 October 2026 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm directly at BER Airport. Prospective applicants for the 2027 training intake will have the opportunity to meet all training departments in person and experience \u201chands-on training\u201d. The event offers practical insights, personal discussions and the chance to get to know the airport as an employer first-hand.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
